I've solved the (quite stupid) problem. So:

\slurDashed d16( a) a d d( a) \slurSolid a d  d a a d d a a d

Use \slurSolid.  As you can see from the 2.11 docs, this works.
Try to construct a minimal example of your problem; this will help
you discover what you did wrong.
