Please,
my invocation line is:
lilypond-book --output=OUTPUT --pdf -f latex my.latex.file
but liypond-book reports:
Dissecting...
Writing snippets...
All snippets are up to date...
Compiling /u/lilypond/OUTPUT/boaters.tex...
/u/lilypond/OUTPUT/boaters.tex is up to date.
Processing include: introduction.tex
lilypond-book: error: Output would overwrite input file; use --output
AFAIK, I have changed nothing in my set up from 2.11.
I have read here:

It does not matter what extension I give my.latex.file
