verbatim (non-file) macro

Hi all,

Is there a \verbatim macro out there anywhere, i.e., one where

\markup \verbatim {
    Hickory dickory dock,
    I'm a \verbatim %%block%%.
}

would output

    Hickory dickory dock,
    I'm a \verbatim %%block%%.

[note that leading spaces are maintained].
