Hi Kees,

"I hope the developers will add the Persian accidentals in the next Lilypond version", 
even though it seems obvious that they will, I plan to post a message in that sense (I don't know where to make this kind of request yet). 
Some info you deliver in  the .ly file could be included in the user's manual, in the world music section, where the arabic music is explained.

What are the limitations of your hack?

%With the ney I'm going at snails pace, of course, but going.%

Thanks for posting these questions which raise the profile for supporting Persian music. I hope the developers will add the Persian accidentals in the next Lilypond version. My hack has several limitations.
