lyrics to split parts / vocal cue notes

Hi there,

I'm trying to put lyrics to a voice in a two-voice context, but I seem 
to be doing something wrong. In the following minimal example the notes 
after the split part are garbled:

The aim is, of course, to manually typeset vocal cue notes. Any help 
greatly appreciated.
