Hi Graham,

problem solved! Thank you very much! (I changed the first line of the 
musicxml2ly file in the path /Applications/LilyPond.app/Contents/Resources/bin/ 
from #!/usr/bin/python to #!/usr/bin/env python and everything works.)

the output of /usr/bin/python is:
Python 2.3.5 (#1, Jan 12 2009, 14:13:25) 
[GCC 4.0.1 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 5363) (+4864187)] on darwin
