Please look at the bottom of the Midi Player window. What does it say? (Like "Midi file loaded:" or "Error:") Also, the activity log of jEdit could help.

Wonderful.

I get a BeanShell error [attached] on launching the MIDI player, but I
can not say if this appeared before.
