have a look at the space-alist properties of the Clef, KeySignature and the TimeSignature objects. looks like there are a number of properties there which are fixed staff-sizes. changing these values compresses the spacing of the Clef, TimeSignature and KeySignature objects. the properties have names which are fairly comprehensible, however you will have to experiment to find the exact values you want.
