Hi all,

Perhaps someone can help me here. I'm trying to set the Huron Carol (old hymn written by St Jean de Brebeuf in the 1640s). [...] Also, in the vers in the original Wendat language, the common way to depict one certain sound is with an "8", but Lily won't let me put that in lyrics.

Hi.

For the letter you want, I guess it's in fact the "LATIN LETTER OU", with Unicode code point U+0222 or U+0223 (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ou_%28letter%29). As stated there, you could use "8" or \markup \italic "8" instead. Note that you have to write "8" instead of just 8 in the lyrics, since it is parsed as a duration of a (missing) syllable without the quotes - thus the error.

Cheers,
Alexander
