Yes Nick, this is closed to the idea. The other keys could be written with letters.
^\markup { \override #'(font-size . -2) "D# " \box \finger "3 1| 21" \override #'(font-size . -2) "C#" }
BUT... is it possible to make it VERTICAL instead of horizontal text??

Maybe something like <010111> for the 3 principal
holes, working in a similar fashion of the regular fingerings like
a-3-2-1-0-2-1
with a retangular box around and some extra letters for the
extra holes of the flute, oboe and clarinet...
Is there anything like this araoud?

As
far as I know, you have to do it in markup.

Hi,
Is there a way to notate woodwind fingerings? Let's say to notate a
flute fingering above a note?
Thanks
Bernard
