I agree to a point. I think an example should show default behaviour  
first, then progress so we could add one more measure and show

That way you see what the beaming does (without any extra notation)  
and then the second example shows other beaming styles and the third  
shows other markups that are common. That way we cover most of the  
basics but in increments.
