When I wrote my *really* dirty workaround not too long ago (search for BarNumberStaff in the mailing list, since the LSR is down right now), I came to the conclusion that this is not easily supported out-of-the-box.

And if it is not, could it be implemented in a not-too-distant future?
(in this case, could a gentle Bug Squad member open a new issue for
this?)
This is AFAIK a quite common practice and should be do-able (at least
a possible "option") without needing some "tricky workaround", IMO.

+1. At the very least, even if it's not common practice, it should do no harm to add this option for both MultiMeasureRests and PercentRepeats, neither should it be too hard for someone who understands what's going on internally and knows how the first number gets suppressed.
