Which version did you download? 2.12.x or 2.13.x

Did you make sure you had the right architecture (there is a different 
binary for PPC and Intel Macs).

Did you save the introductory file first before you tried to compile?

PS This should be on the lilypond-user list not the bug list. I have ccd 
this so can you make sure you reply to that email and not the bug one?
