Why not use an iPhone/iPad app that reads PDF files that LilyPond produces.  My friend wrote a great app for the iPad called "Unreal Book", based on the Berklee "Real Book".  There's also an iPhone app that has songs with only chords and can transpose.

Is Android probably a better way to go if someone ever wants to develop a lilypond application for mobile devices ?
