that would be great, yes. and i don't agree with this:

i think that ideally ottava marks should behave differently in the  
staff and voice contexts. now ottava only exists at the staff level,  
and setting different octaves for different parts in a staff requires  
a somewhat hackish tweak, as we have seen.
