Hm... no, that's not happening here. If it were, I'd be clam-happy. See 
screenshots for the sequence.

1. I hit "C-c C-s" (View in the command menu). Note "Compilation:run Compiling."

2. I hit "C-c C-l" to rerun lilypond.

3. I answer "no" - don't kill the viewer.

4. I close the viewer. *Now* the so-called "compilation" is done.

Everything, even "View," goes through LilyPond-compile-file, which uses 
(compile-internal ...).

Where to report bugs with emacs lilypond-mode, then?
