You definitely want to know about \shape function.  If you're using
development versions, take a look here:
http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.17/Documentation/notation/modifying-shapes#modifying-ties-and-slurs

if you're using stable versions, i think you can find it somewhere on the lists.
