I started using this the other day for right hand fingerings

and was hoping something like this would work, but I've not had any luck yet.

For right-hand fingering, even shorter would be to define

% shortcuts for stroke finger indications

% can't use a or p, so use upper case for all

P=\rightHandFinger #1

I=\rightHandFinger #2

M=\rightHandFinger #3

A=\rightHandFinger #4

and then you can just use, for example, <a-\P >.
