Just a quick response (I'm in a hurry) – I had a similar problem and I
think \with-dimensions should be your friend.

in the attached screenshot, i tried to put the logo in the same markup line as
the dedication, that worked, but it was pushing the title further down the
page. what i would have preferred to happen is to be able to place the EPS file
and have lilypond ignore it for spacing purposes. is that possible?
(the attached image is cropped from an indesign file).
