Hi Steve,

if LilyPond.app is installed (copied) into "/Applications/", you can call convert-ly directly from the console:
/Applications/LilyPond.app/Contents/Resources/bin/convert-ly

or you add
/Applications/LilyPond.app/Contents/Resources/bin/
to your search PATH.
