If I say \override Score.TimeSignature.style = #'mensural \override NoteHead.style = #'petrucci \clef "petrucci-c3" \time 2/2 c'2 c'4 c'4 I wonder why there is such a large gap between the clef and the time signature. Looks quite unnatural IMHO.
Agreed. I think it's because the time sig is always placed in the same location, and the clef is narrow, so it looks bad. See attached annotated example.
