This only happens when running Frescobaldi from a git checkout. I.e. when there is a '.git/' directory in the root folder of the Frescobaldi source.  Of course Frescobaldi should never bail out if some application is not found.

Urs, can you look into this?

Git is certainly not a dependency for Frescobaldi and never will be. Support for managing lilypond documents inside a Git repository is on the wish list, e.g. to be able to commit or find out who changed what (blame) etc.

The install instructions at http://frescobaldi.org/download.html need to
add git as a dependency. Without git installed, when trying to run
Frescobaldi I get:
