Distinguish between internal and external links?
Should be fairly easy through CSS.

2)
Actually you're not really seeing on which page you're on because the only reference is  a very small highlighting of the active menu item.
I suggest to automatically place the @node name as a @heading on top of each website page.

I have something in development for #2 on Federico's list. I've parsed through enough of the texi2html script that I was able to insert CSS classes into the <body> tag that will allow me to color code each manual.
