Slash repeats are never used with certain instruments and only rarely seen outside handwritten scores. Even Ravel's Bolero doesn't use them in the score, where the snare drum plays the same pair of bars for 65 pages (though it does obviously use them in the part).

I’ve seen pieces where a bar or two might be played 5 times, then the next bar played 11 times etc. It would save a lot of space.
