Gentlemen,
I have tried both (in 2.18),
\set tieWaitForNote = ##t, works
\set tieWaitForNote = #t, does not work.

Yes, you are right. But if you are just settings variables to true in ly
syntax, then I often consider this combination ##t as the "LilyPond value"
for true.
