That is even better—maybe default to the denominator of the time 
signature unless the nominator is only 1 or 2; in that case, double it:
2/4 ↦ 8
3/4 ↦ 4
4/4 ↦ 4
2/2 ↦ 4
6/4 ↦ 4 (probably better than ↦ 2.)
Of course, this doesn’t suffice to detect all kinds of passing notes. 
And perhaps it would be better to make the default simpler (no 
exceptions for small nominators). But these are questions on small 
details; first I have to find enough time to start the project at all ;)
