Uses of all the various note head styles? |

Hello list,
I'm not familiar with all of LilyPond's note head styles and I'm curious
about their use:
http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.18/Documentation/notation/note-head-styles
I assume some would typically be used for all the notes in a given piece:
default, altdefault, baroque, neomensural, mensural, petrucci.
And others would be used for just certain notes in a piece but not all of
them:
harmonic, harmonic-black, harmonic-mixed, diamond, cross, xcircle, triangle,
slash.
Is that right?
Thanks,
-Paul
