Urs,

If tried it in LibreOffice, then I'm not surprised at the noticeable-ness (in an ugly way) of the font. I have only seen one font look good in that program. When you put it in a PDF, however, it should look a LOT better, especially in a non-body text.

I let LuaLaTeX compile a text document, with microtype support, so *that* is not the issue ...
However, I know the document itself wasn't really appropriate for *any* condensed font.
Unfortunately I don't have any time to look for a realistic test case right now.

I'm afraid I don't entirely understand your question...

1)
Did you produce the condensed set?

Yes.

2)
If so, did you design the glyph shapes individually or through applying some sort of automatic scaling?

Automatic scaling. I realize this may be heresy, but it works, doesn't it?

I don't want to discuss if it's heresy, but it's noticeable.
I didn't test it on a score yet, only on a document with continuous text (where it may not be so appropriate in the first place), and the result *is* quite noticeable.
However, I'll have to test it as LilyPond lyrics, and maybe in a document with narrow columns where you'd expect a condensed font.

Thanks anyway
Urs

I think that's clearer, isnt it?

Urs

Yes, thanks for clarifying :)

Abraham
