Ritardando and accelerando

Hello!

I’m trying to add a Ritardando. I’ve searched the user manual and found some information but I do not understand how I use it. Exactly where do I write!?

Being used to Sibelius there’s som many things that are so difficult to understand. Only to search in the right place in the manual took a good while. Since Ritardando and Accelerando are pretty common, shouldn’t there be an easier way to find it? It’s not listed in the Index of the manual.

Sorry about having to ask such a ”simple” question, but for me almost everything with Lilypond is very hard to understand at this point.
