In the viola score of a Telemann quartet in G minor, I find this notation [d.g. 8va bassa]. Does anyone know what it means?
One clue is the end of the 8va bassa in the middle of bar 73. If this had the usual meaning, it would suggest a somewhat strange run with a leap of a seventh at one point.
The German for "double stopping" appears to be Doppelgriffen. Could this therefore be a German-Italian composite meaning "col 8va bassa"?
