variable containing header

I'm trying to define a variable containing the header but lilypond does not
accept it. Am'I doing some error or is this forbidden?

% my source
\version "2.18.2"
head = \header {
  title = "The Third Position"
}

\score {
  {a b c d}
  \head
  \layout {}
}
