That would still affect both editions, it wouldn’t be tweakable by the edition-engraver.

In this score

divisiaIII = ^\markup { "div. a 3" }

\score {
  { a1\divisiaIII }
}

another way would be to add an additional _\divisiaIII with the edition-engraver and remove/omit the markup that has been placed above the staff. Would that be doable? Simply adding \once \omit TextScript obviously also removes the _\divisiaIII.
