There actually wasn't any humor involved here. I was, apparently
unsuccessfully, trying to use an analogy in order to express my surprise
at the apparent unsuitability of LilyPond to deal with the request to
use a different barline type rather than substitute manual drawing
instructions and leaving LilyPond in the belief it is drawing a repeat
bar.

It would likely not be a good idea to submit my comment to a joke
magazine.

Well, if there is, it is much more likely to lead to results that will
work fine at different staff sizes and font styles.

Of course, there also is the question _why_ Kieren wants no repeat bar
in this staff. If the answer to that is "oh, I want a repeat, and the
Midi should have one as well, but the repeat bar LilyPond draws is too
ugly for that", then replacing the stencil might actually be a more
appropriate short-term fix than my reaction indicated.

But the question then is: what kind of repeat bar _would_ be appropriate
in a RhythmicStaff? And then see what it would take to make LilyPond
use this consistently.
