You are confusing "side effects" with "documented intentional behavior
not directly matching my use case".

Now you go from expecting that LilyPond should be able to magically
guess your use case and desires to expecting that the list readers
should be able to magically guess your use case and desires.

Just throwing some code at the list and not even explaining which of the
variants corresponds to your desired behavior and why will hardly lead
to better results than doing the same to LilyPond.

There have been a few answers also offering shortcut variants of what
amounts to \rightHandFinger #1 and its cousins.  Perhaps you should
revisit them and see how they fall short of your needs?  They might make
for a better starting point for the discussion.
