Rhythmic shorthand for notes?

I've likely butchered the subject since I have no clue what the technical term for it is, but to be brief, this:

I suppose it's a two-parter:

• How do I combine four sixteenths into what looks like a single quarter note with the beams crossing through the stem?
• How do I notate that all four notes are played staccato?
