Hi bb and OP,

To be fair, the question is ambigous, and has two answers. He may be asking not simply how to break a line at a given location, but rather how to specify a certain numbers of bars per line - the latter not something that is obvious or simple in lilypond at all, and yet very frequently desired.

The Lilypond Snippet Repository provides a solution to specifying a set number of bars per line in example LSR 838 - and non-trivial it is indeed.

There is also an approach in openLilyLib, namely the page-layout package (https://github.com/openlilylib/page-layout) that makes handling manual line breaks easier. It doesn't have an option to create breaks at regular intervals or provide an option like, say, "make me 5 lines with 6 measures each, then 8 lines with 4 measures each". But I think this would be a good idea for an addition.

However, there's one thing I find irritating about the original post: the OP states that the line in his given example is "not very beautiful" - and I don't have the slightest clue as to why this should be the case.
The least we'd need before spending so much energy to the question is having better information about what the OP actually needs.
Especially given the fact that he (?) didn't respond anymore on the thread.

Hello :
I am using Lilypond to make a music score.
But I found there are many bars in one line, and it is not very  beautiful as the picture below shows.
Could I ask u how to define the number of bars of each line?  Thank you very much.
