There is also an approach in openLilyLib, namely the page-layout package (https://github.com/openlilylib/page-layout) that makes handling manual line breaks easier. It doesn't have an option to create breaks at regular intervals or provide an option like, say, "make me 5 lines with 6 measures each, then 8 lines with 4 measures each". But I think this would be a good idea for an addition. However, there's one thing I find irritating about the original post: the OP states that the line in his given example is "not very beautiful" - and I don't have the slightest clue as to why this should be the case. The least we'd need before spending so much energy to the question is having better information about what the OP actually needs. Especially given the fact that he (?) didn't respond anymore on the thread. Urs
