The memory management stuff has been dealt with mostly.  Guile-2.0
however is aware of character encodings (meaning that it knows better
than everyone else how to do things but not good enough to actually
work) so the port is stuck in that area, and not being able to work with
the test cases (and some LilyPond-internal files) means not being able
to look for other problems.

Also, there is no sane strategy for dealing with precompiled .go files
yet.  configure has an option for allowing Guile-2 but the result fails
in those respect so it's off by default.
