You would need a separate override for MultiMeasureRest:
\override MultiMeasureRest.style = #'neomensural
This is because MultiMeasureRest’s stencil doesn’t look for the style
even though MultiMeasureRest implements the rest-interface. Have a look
at line 232 of multi-measure-rest.cc: Rest::glyph_name is called with ""
as third argument which should be the style.
