most of the time, though it pays to be prepared for the occasional
hiatus.

The popularity contest shows about 6:1 in favour of
jessie(=stable) over stretch(=testing), and even 2:1 still
in favour of wheezy(=oldstable) over stretch(=testing).

But, as I pointed out earlier, you can easily install the latest
"unstable" versions of LP on Debian. I can vouch for 2.19.49 on
wheezy and jessie myself.

Actually you can't run "experimental", you can only select packages
from it for a system running sid(=unstable).

Agreed; and on hardware compatibility if you are into buying brand
new computers.
