Not really a fermata question, but just curious...
What's the easiest way in LilyPond to create those beamed tremolos?
In the 'old.gif' you can see the beams connected for those first few
measures, but in the 'new.gif' in LilyPond the tremolos are in
between the half notes. Is that easy to do in LilyPond? Never found
myself having to do that yet.
