This looks like a job for… Scheme! =)
Much like auto-beaming has rules that are applied by time signature, what you
want can be done using a callback function for NoteHead.color, which figured
out which beat of which time signature it was and colored itself accordingly.
Way beyond my current Scheme-fu… but there are definitely people on the list
who could whip up an example for you, if you can’t get there yourself (by
adapting similar functions from the docs).
