[LKDP] Kernel version??

I have just joined this mailing list...
I will start working on the Networking Subsystem/Network layer (Chapter 6)

I see a inconsistency in linux kernel version...
The mm.pdf has been documented with kernel versoin 2.4.19 whereas Networking 
part as per net.pdf has been documented with kernel version 2.4.19 ?

I don't know with which version are other people working ??
Which version should I work with 2.4.19 or 18 ???
