On a related issue, I would like (at least as an option) to

1) have Lout print (on stderr) the page number that it had just output
which processing

2) if possible, have Lout print the source file name and line position
related to the start or end of pages

I would like this because I do have some too small object scaled to
0.95 messages, and I wish to look at it thru ghostview  to see if I
feel it is acceptable or not!

3) a related wish is a @Message primitive which output its argument to
stderr. It is probably needed to implement wish 1. I would like it for
other reasons, such as displaying (on stderr) an message such as
"following scale related message is expected".

[I did submit this wish some time ago without success]

A meta-wish would be ability -probably thru better documentation- to
be able to extend Lout primitives. Actually, user contributions could
be Lout styles or C extensions to the core Lout stuff.

If lout C programs where more documented I believe it should be
trivial to add such a stuff. (in other words, I wish Lout has a C API)

An even more remote wish would be to Lout becoming (optionnally) a
library that an application could call!
