In externs.h see MAX_SHORT_LENGTH, which is 32767 internal units.
Internally Lout works with units of 1/20 pt, so
32767 = 1638.35 pt = 22.7(5) in = 57.79 cm
which is enouch for B3 paper, but just a little bit too small for A2
(420mm x 594mm).
