I've looked into this. The @DupRunner symbol that Uwe refers to is
a horrible hack I introduced to get the correct running headers to
appear above figures. Dave reports that it does eventually work,
just that you have to do a number of runs equal to the number of
figures before it all comes right.
I don't think I can do any more here. The system will work
well enough for figures sprinkled through body text; it's only
when you have page after page of figures that you notice it. I
think Uwe's workaround, to use raw figures, is the best option.
