I can see the textures using gv 3.5.8 (gs 6.53) under Linux -- look fine.
Using ps2pdf and xpdf did not render as nicely (acroread crashed as per
Mark's comment).  The striped text box on P 158 looks ugly, but perhaps it
is supposed to be ;)

The only Postscript textures I could find are associated with drawing
programs eg Tgif has oblique brickwork, (oblique) hatching made up of
various lengths of dashed line (some of which look OK), grids of
different density.  There is a library of public domain geographical
fill patterns from the US Geological Survey at

Text is fine.
