Vertical rules

I'm writing a script that build a table from a database. Instead of using
@Tbl, I'm trying to do it with the concatenation primitives only. No problem
in that, other than I don't know how to draw vertical rules between the
cells.
This seems to be a rather trivial question, but I wasn't able to find
anything in Lout (3.24) manual or in my mailing list database. I know I may
switch to @Graphic (the reinventing the wheel approach) or @Diag (anti-ant
missile), or use @Box for framed cell, but I can't help to think that there
must be a simpler way to do the job, somewhere around the corner.
Ciao.
