Follow-up Comment #5, patch #5788 (project lwip):

OK, do it as you've suggested.  My only reason for caution is not that I
don't want it to be configurable, but that lwipopts is often edited by users
without much understanding of what the options mean.  If you could make sure
any new options are well documented and highlighted where appropriate with
"don't change this unless you know what you're doing" sort of things that
should be fine.
