Tests? Which tests? ;-)
As far as I know, the only official testing method is running some of
the ports in contrib. I'm not sure they even use all of the stack
functionality...
But it's true, I have my own UDP & TCP apps I run the stack with after a
change, so maybe it's a good idea to include it.
