Follow-up Comment #5, bug #23240 (project lwip):
I haven't had a chance to test this any further yet, will hand in my thesis
tomorrow.
On a general note, if a variable is to be shared by several threads without
some OS level protection, it must be ensured that the read and write
operations are atomic.
